Missed Connection is a narrative short film created entirely with generative AI tools. Every frame, every voice, every edit was produced using AI: Runway Gen-4 for video generation, Eleven Labs for voice synthesis, and CapCut for editing.
The film explores a chance encounter and the weight of paths not taken. But it's also an experiment: what happens when the entire filmmaking pipeline, from concept to final cut, runs through generative models?
The answer is more nuanced than either the optimists or the skeptics suggest. The tools are extraordinary. The creative process is fundamentally different. And the result raises questions about authorship, intention, and what we mean when we say someone "made" a film.
